Defining living in the moment

Life takes place in the present. But, all too often, we allow the present to slip away, allowing time to pass unnoticed and unused, wasting precious seconds of our lives as we fret about the future and ruminate on the past.

We live a life that is disconnected from what is actually happening in the present. For example, we daydream about going on vacation while at work, and we think about work while on vacation. The result? We don’t get to experience the moment. And then they’re all gone.

We live in limbo, along with stress and all of its negative consequences.

It is important therefore to live in the moment. But how exactly do you define living in the moment? Myrko Thum, the author, defines living in the moment more precisely as:

The present moment is the only thing where there is no time. It is the point between past and future. It is always there and it is the only point we can access in time. Everything that happens, happens in the present moment. Everything that ever happened and will ever happen can only happen in the present moment. It is impossible for anything to exist outside of it.

To put it another way, living in the moment is simply experiencing what is happening RIGHT NOW. Not in a suspended state, bothered by the past, or concerned about the future.
